Our Oracular Seidr Ritual is a modern rite based on the 1000-year-old Norse ritual for seeking wisdom from the ancestors, land spirits, and Gods as described in the Saga of Erik the Red in Iceland. Together, we journey through the 9 Realms, twining around Yggdrasil to a place between the worlds where words of wisdom can be heard. This rite allows us to share our ancestors’ traditions of connecting with our beloved dead and hearing the voices of the spirits and divine. During the rite, a Guide leads the journey, a Seer facilitates communication between the spirits and the questioner, and Guardians provide care and protection for the participants during and after the rite. Typically the rite takes about 2 hours from introductory information through the return and dispersal.
This is a closed ritual; once the journey begins, no additional attendees may enter. We may, however, run long, but we do have a plan in place to help anyone who needs to leave early or gets overwhelmed during the course of the ritual.
We do this ritual both in-person and online via Zoom, but due to the more advanced nature of the ritual, there are some additional considerations online attendees, as outlined below.
Some Notes on Attending an Online Oracular Spae Ritual
An oracular space ritual is an advanced practice, although many people with minimal prior experience have gotten great value from attending our rituals in person. Doing the ritual online will be a bit different, and we suggest the following as preparation.
1. Consider whether you should attend.
You should already have the following skills: the ability to shield yourself, ward your space, and journeying/pathworking.
If you’re ill (over and above your daily lived experience), pregnant, or in acute distress please do not attend the ritual. If you have questions about whether you should attend, please contact a host.
2. Make a safety plan. We will be in deep trance and wandering in the Otherworld
Do you have a spotter?
Is someone available to take care of you afterwards? You can message the guardians during or after the ritual
Do you have whatever supplies you like to use to help yourself ground? Salt, stones, water, food, etc
If you are grieving, fatigued, ill, etc, please take that into consideration as you create your safety plan.
3. Before the ritual begins
Please turn off any alerts or alarms on your phone
Make sure you will be without interruptions for the duration of the ritual
Make sure you have a comfortable place to sit in a space that’s calm, quiet, and with minimal distractions
Gather any supplies you may want, including the ability to take notes if you like.
4. Safety during the ritual
We will go over how to stay safe during the ritual before we begin. In essence, we ask you to stay with the group at all times.
If you need any extra support while the ritual is ongoing, there are a few options which we will go over at the beginning, though the first thing to do is to use the chat to message a guardian privately.
When you’re ready to leave, please ask the door warden to help you make sure you are fully aware, centered, and without attachments.
